Local support service provider Gizmo has completed its acquisition of Melbourne-based Nerds for Hire.
Brett Chenoweth, Gizmo’s CEO said the acquisition continues Gizmo’s expansion towards offering a nationwide home service and adds to their existing Sydney team of ‘Gizmotechs’.
“The acquisition of Nerds for Hire enables us to provide customers in Melbourne with a service to help them install, trouble-shoot and understand how to get the most out their home technologies,” he said in a statement.
Launching its Sydney operation and nationwide phone service earlier this month, Gizmo provides on-site home support to customise, set up and maintain computer systems, home networking, peripherals and media/entertainment centres.
Home service visits are priced at a flat rate and range from $120 to $240 depending on the service required while over the phone service is a flat $60 (support that requires less than ten minutes costs $20).
Nerds for Hire began in 2001 and now offers a wide range of computer-related support services to consumers in Melbourne.
Chenoweth said by the end of September, the current Nerds for Hire business will be operating under the Gizmo brand.
