Ruggedised computer maket Getac is set to release a military-spec mobile server aimed at field command centres and other harsh environments.
The briefcase-sized device, distributed in Australia by Synnex, uses a quad-core X500 rugged notebook as its base, and packs a RAID controller and five configurable drive bays.
Specifications include an Intel i7 processor, 16GB RAM and an NVIDIA GT330M discrete VGA graphic controller. It also includes 15.6 inch sunlight-readable display.
"The compact and self-contained X500 mobile rugged server can be deployed virtually anywhere and anytime, allowing critical on-site data to flow in remote locations,” said Frank Bryan, Getac Country Manager at Synnex Australia, in a statement. "The server’s power, storage and Windows Server 2012 make it ideal for quick deployment in harsh or fast-moving mobile environments."
The Getac X500 Rugged Mobile Server is available now.
