Tech Data has appointed David Charlton as its new director of business innovation for Australia & New Zealand, a new position created as part of the company’s solution specialist strategy.
Charlton will be tasked with bringing new vendors in the data centre and “next-generation technology” sectors such as cloud, mobility, security and networking, data analytics, and internet of things (IoT).
“We are thrilled to have David join the Tech Data team,” said Michael Costigan, Tech Data Asia Pacific vice president of marketing, education and supplier management.
Charlton had previously served as general manager of rival distributor Ingram Micro’s ANZ operations, a position he held from 2015.
He had been with Ingram Micro since 2008 in various management roles, and served as national sales manager with barcode and RFID provider Sato International before that.
“David is the perfect person to drive the expansion of both our data centre and next-generation portfolios, enabling us to bring partners the most innovative products, services and solutions to meet their evolving needs,” Costigan added.
