Australia's largest hunger relief charity Foodbank Victoria has won the 2024 Qlik ANZ Digital Transformation Award for ESG-centred App Innovation, for its innovative use of data analytics in food relief distribution.
"This award acknowledges the hard work and dedication of our team and our partners, who have been instrumental in integrating real-time data into our decision-making processes," said Kennie Greagen, applied research and innovation manager at Foodbank Victoria.
The organisation partnered with data consultancy Notitia to implement Qlik Sense - SaaS (Cloud) solutions across its operations.
"Foodbank Victoria is an example of how being an early adopter of technology and making it an organisational-wide goal, can drive meaningful change," Alex Avery, managing director at Notitia said.
The digital transformation included the launch of interactive tools such as Neighbourhood Assessments, Feed it Forward and Feed it Back apps.
These tools integrate data from multiple sources including the Australian Bureau of Statistics and Victorian Agency for Health Information to optimise food distribution.
"The move to Qlik Sense - SaaS (Cloud) has revolutionised our operations," said Greagen.
The transformation enables Victoria's largest food relief organisation to feed 69,000 people daily across the state.
"Foodbank Victoria's data-driven approach is setting a new benchmark for how charities can leverage technology to maximise their impact," said Charlie Farah, field chief technology officer of analytics/AI at Qlik.
The organisation supports 500 front-line charities and 1105 school breakfast programs throughout Victoria.
Last year alone, Foodbank Victoria distributed enough food to create 25 million meals.
The award was presented at the sixth annual ANZ Digital Transformation Awards, which concluded Qlik's AI Reality Tour event.
