Emergence Insurance has acquired the renewal rights to the cyber insurance portfolio of Australian insurance underwriting agency Blue Zebra.
Blue Zebra Insurance brings together Blue Zebra, SGUA, Point Insurance and Allstate Underwriting under one roof.
All Blue Zebra cyber policies renewing from 1 July 2026 will be issued renewal (so called ‘replacement’ policies) terms by Emergence. Brokers will begin receiving renewal notices from Emergence this month.
Upon renewal, policyholders will gain access to Emergence’s cyber cover, including its Smarter Cyber Services and Smarter Incident Response capabilities.
Customers will also benefit from an expanded risk appetite, more flexible coverage options, and support from a larger, dedicated cyber team, the companies claimed.
As part of the acquisition, Blue Zebra’s head of cyber, Aaron Langmaid, will also join Emergence in July.
Emergence CEO Troy Filipcevic said the acquisition reflects Emergence’s continued focus on the cyber market and supporting brokers and their clients on better managing cyber risk.
“Blue Zebra has built a solid cyber portfolio, underpinned by a small specialist team. We’re pleased to welcome their cyber policyholders to Emergence and continue supporting them with specialist cyber protection and practical end-to-end support before, during and after a cyber incident,” Filipcevic said.
Blue Zebra CEO Rowan Watson said the acquisition would maintain continuity for policyholders while expanding access to broader cyber capability and support services, as well as emphasising that this allows Blue Zebra to focus on the agency’s core offering and to service their broker partners and customer base at scale.
“Emergence has built a strong reputation in cyber insurance and shares our commitment to protecting policyholders,” Watson said.
“This acquisition gives our policyholders access to broader cover options, additional support services and deep cyber expertise.”
Earlier this year, Sydney-headquartered NSB Cyber partnered with Emergence Insurance to provide cybersecurity services to the insurance company’s policyholders.
In 2024, Microsoft partner Arinco delivered a Microsoft Sentinel implementation for Blue Zebra.
