Global IT services vendor, EDS has signed a seven-year, US$1.7 billion IT services agreement with Kraft Foods.
EDS will provide a range of IT services including data centers, hosting, telecommunications and workplace support services, to support Kraft's global operations.
Also as part of the agreement, EDS would become responsibile for Kraft Foods' IT infrastructure and manage desktop workstations and servers for more than 60,000 employees worldwide.
Steve Schuckenbrock, EDS' co-chief operating officer and executive vice president of global sales and client solutions said the company would be using EDS’ Agile Platform, which is a network-based platform for utility computing.
EDS partners Dell, Microsoft, Cisco and EMC would also partner with EDS to provide hardware and software to Kraft.
Roger Deromedi, CEO Kraft said the company's strategy is to have the mix of in-house and outsourced activities.
EDS and Kraft couldn't be contacted to discuss the impact of the deal on the local market.
