Dimension Data picks Oakton for new global role

Australia's Oakton is one of seven subsidiaries chosen by Dimension Data to form a unified global digital practice.

Over 2,000 employees from seven companies owned by Dimension Data will work within the Digital Practice ecosystem, including Oakton, as well as South African companies Britehouse, Agile-Xpedia, iFactory, Core People and Data-Flo.

All 2,000 employees will remain in their respective businesses, with the goal to deliver consistent product across Dimension Data’s subsidiary businesses.

The new offering, Digital Practice, offers management infrastructure and application hosting, as well as app migration, cloud platform and management of SAP and Oracle environments.

Oakton was acquired by Dimension Data last year for approximately $171 million.

The division will be headed up by Brighthouse chief executive Scott Gibson, who joins Digital Practice as group executive.

“Across the globe, we’re seeing more and more clients in both the private and public sectors looking to invest in digital technologies,” said Gibson.

“The era of digital transformation is here, and organisations that don’t embrace it are at risk of failing. A digital journey must start with the technology platform, and include business process automation, the internet of things, data analytics, right through to the client experience.”
