Dimension Data deploys Cisco in $4.5m NSW govt deal

Dimension Data Australia has landed a $4.5 million contract with NSW Department of Industry to provide Cisco video conferencing and physical security platforms.

The service will be carried out at sites in Orange, Maitland, Sydney head office, Parramatta, Sydney City South, Elizabeth Macarthur Agriculture Institute, GovDC, Armidale, Dubbo and Tamworth.

A Department of Industry spokesperson said the deal was "a standard supply contract for the design, supply and installation of an integrated video conference system solution for the department's various sites across NSW".

Dimension Data will provide hardware, software and implementation, then three years of hardware maintenance, software support and managed services.

The products will cover "small, medium and large and immersive environments". The solution will allow for multipoint bridging, desktop and mobile device integration, and third party systems.

Dimension Data Australia declined to comment on the project.

With an improved video conferencing experience, the department said it expects to have immediate flow-on benefits.

"This will improve video conference usage, thus reducing travel and increasing staff efficiency through better collaboration and innovation," said the spokesperson.

Dimension Data was chosen after a process based on price and non-price selection-criteria, including solution features, ability to supply the solution, demonstrated experience and track record.

Dimension Data has been a Cisco partner for 25 years and was awarded the vendor's 2016 Asia-Pacific partner of the year award at the global partner summit in March. DiData Australia is also a 2016 CRN MVP, for enjoying top-level relationships with 11 big-name vendors.
