Dicker Data's growing partnership with HP has been flagged as a primary reason for the distie's recently announced split with Lenovo.
David Dicker, the distie's managing director has told CRN that although the decision to part ways was mutual, Dicker Data's focus is "shifting away from where they [Lenovo] want to go".
"It's nothing really dramatic; we're principally a HP distributor and always have been, and we're really just increasing the focus on the HP side," he said.
Dicker said the distributor has been building up its HP server, storage and technical support in line with HP over the last couple of years.
"It's got to the stage where you've got to say ‘where are we going to put the resources?'
"Vendor relationship can't always last forever, sometimes it doesn't quite work well," he said.
