Deloitte acquires Microsoft Azure partner Mexia

Queensland-headquartered Microsoft Azure expert solution provider Mexia has become the latest Aussie IT firm to be snapped up by a large consultancy, joining Deloitte to bolster its cloud capabilities.

The acquisition, made for an undisclosed sum, will see the Mexia team join Deloitte Consulting's Technology Advisory Platform Engineering practice, according to Deloitte, with Mexia chief executive Dean Robertson and chief operating officer Mathew Coleman to become Deloitte consulting partners.

"Joining a successful, growing and broad-based professional services leader like Deloitte is a great move for our business, and one that will present great opportunities for our people," Robertson said.

“Helping clients across multiple sectors to realise the value of cloud-based technology transformation is our bread and butter. Just like Deloitte, we can be part of every stage of our clients’ cloud development and design lifecycle.”

The acquisition follows Deloitte's acquisition of Brisbane AWS specialist CloudTrek last week.

Deloitte consulting managing partner Kaylene O'Brien said adding multiple cloud platform services was of growing importance to Deloitte's clients.

"Just as with CloudTrek and other cloud specialists that have joined in recent years, Mexia is an industry leader that is well-established, well-connected, and very well-regarded.”

Founded by Robertson in 2008, Mexia’s Microsoft services include cloud and on-premises solutions and business transformation services. The company has recently specialised in healthcare solutions by building its Mexconnect platform on Microsoft Azure.

The company was named Microsoft's Australian country partner of the year in 2017, and was No.12 in 2015 CRN Fast50.

The company was named the 11th best place to work, with under 100 staff, in Australia by research firm Great Place to Work in August this year.
