These are the best tech companies to work for in Australia
Insentra's leadership team: Sales director Steven Boi, chief executive Ronnie Altit and chief technology officer Itzik Gur.

Insentra, Altis Consulting, Mexia, Cisco, Salesforce, Atlassian and a host of other IT companies have dominated the 2018 best places to work in Australia report published by training consultancy Great Place to Work.

Channel partner and CRN Fast50 finalist Insentra took out the number two position in the companies with under 100 employees category. Its rank suggests it’s the number one IT solutions provider in Australia with fewer than 100 staff to work for.

Chief executive Ronnie Altit said there was no one thing that made for a great place to work.

“The culture starts at the top, and it permeates and percolates within. We are all responsible for having the culture that we have, I laid the foundation eight years ago but we all work towards having a culture we enjoy,” he said.

“We do the things people want to have happen in a workplace and don't the things they don't want to happen in a workplace. We try to create an environment of people who love what they do in the company of others who love what they do.

“It’s about treating people like adults, trusting your team, empowering your team and making people feel celebrated, loved valued and respected. For me as the CEO, my people are my number one priority.”

Another IT firm, Altis Consulting, was the third best place to work in the sub-100 staff category, followed by Rackspace in fourth spot, while Melbourne's Mexia followed in 11th place and software-as-a-service vendor Meltwater came in 14th.

In the big company category, ranking organisations with more than 1000 staff, global CRM vendor Salesforce took out the top spot. The ranking marked the company’s sixth appearance on the best place to work list, and its second time as number one.

Right behind Salesforce was Atlassian in second place, followed by Cisco Australia in third. SAP also received recognition in the over-1000-staff category, in ninth place.

The middle tier was companies with between 100 and 1000 staff. In this category creative SaaS vendor Canva was ranked as the best place to work In Australia. Business and financial software vendor Intuit claimed third place, while Zendesk, a Denmark based customer service software company, ranked fifth.

Sydney-based virtual data room provider Ansarada took out 11th place in the mid-tier category, followed by creative software giant Adobe in 12th, global workforce management software vendor Kronos in 13th and online internet services provider Envato in 14th. Construction, design and entertainment software company Autodesk ranked 20th.
