Dell unveils all-in-one Vostro desktop PC

Dell has launched its first Vostro All-In-One PC aimed at helping small businesses to reduce desktop clutter.
The Vostro is available for Australian customers to purchase online or through their preferred channel partner and starts at $999.

The vendor's decision to build in an all-in-one device followed its own research, which found that many businesses struggle with cramped spaces and overcrowded desks.

"Small businesses around the world are constantly looking to do more with less, and IDC predicts that small form factor, all-in-one and ultra-small form factor desktops will make up nearly 38 per cent of the overall desktop market by 2013," said Richard Shim, research manager for IDC's personal computing programme.

"Solutions that help organisations migrate to space-saving desktops are well positioned to benefit from this trend."

Dell claimed that the new Vostro devices will free up as much as three quarters of a user's desk space, but still pack in all the specifications of a full desktop PC.

The Vostros will be sold in 17in, 18.5in and 19in versions with a choice of Intel processors, embedded Intel graphics, up to 2GB of DDR2 memory and 80GB to 250GB of storage. Other options include Wi-Fi support and an optical drive.

Customers can choose between Ubuntu or Windows Vista Home or Business editions, and Windows 7 once it becomes available.

As with all Vostro products, the new devices come with a 30-day worry-free return policy, and are backed by a dedicated small-business sales and support team.
