Data#3 scores $2m VMware licensing contract with Administrative Appeals Tribunal

Data#3 has won a multimillion-dollar VMware licensing contract with the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.

The contract is worth just over $2 million and runs from 15 May 2019 to 10 May 2022.

The contract was awarded through the Digital Transformation Agency’s (DTA) 141-member Software Licensing and Services (SLS) Panel.

“We reviewed three responses to a request for quotation and selected Data#3 Limited on the grounds that their offer represented the best value for money,” an AAT spokesperson told CRN.

The spokesperson did not reveal the specific VMware products procured, but said the deal covers a wide range of products that were used across the AAT’s network “to support operations and connectivity”.

"Operations" suggests running infrastructure, so perhaps hints at vSphere and other core VMware products. "Connectivity" suggests that the Tribunal could be using VMware's VeloCloud software-defined WAN, or perhaps even its NSX network virtualisation product.
