Entries have closed and CRN is flat out verifying, sorting and analysing the numbers. On October 27 CRN will reveal the top 50 fastest growing resellers in the CRN Fast50 along with all the statistical information and analysis including where they are, who they sold to and what technologies drove them to fast growth. 

CRN is flying all 50 resellers into Sydney for the naming of the top 10 entrants at the gala dinner with the CRN team and CRN Fast50 sponsors. They include Allied Telesis, APC, Avnet, Citrix, Cyberoam, Dell, Distribution Central, EMC, Express Data, IBM, Ingram Micro, itX, Landesk and Novell, Symantec, VMware. 

The inaugural CRN Fast50 was an eye-opener and we want to thank and congratulate all 50 including last year's fastest growing reseller Mbits, run by Eugene Nolan, which had 581 percent growth in the 2008-2009 financial year.

The collection of resellers who made last year's list despite a global financial meltdown proved that the Australian channel includes some of the most hardworking, talented and tenacious entrepreneurs of any industry. The combined revenues of the CRN Fast50 was a staggering $1.06 billion, despite the fact that 40 of the 50 had less than 50 staff.

And, the group ranged from small SMBs to national integrators.

NSW presented nearly half the list, while Western Australia and Queensland had five on the list. No regional resellers were listed neither were any from Tasmania and the North Territory.

We have certainly had entries from these areas this year so keep an eye out to see if they made the top 50.  

Last year hardware was the dominant contributor to revenues of 44 percent of resellers in last year. A third made more than half their revenue services while just six percent made most of their revenue from software. This explained why Microsoft was the most valued partner but just 12 percent said it was their No.1. The most important vendor was HP followed by IBM.

Further, small to medium businesses were the most lucrative customer for the CRN Fast50 with 38.2 percent of revenue coming from business with less than 100 seats. Finance was the most lucrative vertical. On average resellers had their hands in six industries.
