CRN Chat: Dell gets B+; what about other vendors?

Dell for a number of years championed the direct model, however its recent attempts to seduce resellers into seeing the vendor as more than just a hardware vendor out for itself, has yielded some mixed results.

A WA-based, Accord, told CRN that there were pros and cons to working directly with a top-tier vendor. Accord's Mike Ford said he gave the vendor's channel performance to date a "B+".

What about other resellers, how do you rate your vendor partner? Are these guys doing everything they can to win your business in these financial times?

Are multinational vendors playing confusing games with its channel partners? Can they afford to do so?

Resellers once made a good living from reselling Apple products, but since the vendor gained popularity in the consumer electronics market it has been sending out mixed signals to the channel.

Although the vendor has opened its own retail stores in NSW, Victoria and Queensland, its recent release of enterprise products, could open the gates for resellers once more.
