Cradle Technologies signs to distribute Yellow Machine

Cradle Technologies has struck a deal to distribute Anthology Solutions' 1TB Yellow Machine integrated storage device to resellers targeting SMBs.

Eight months ago, Cradle was looking to distribute storage but found products weren't addressing the SMB market, only catering to low-end users and high-end enterprise, said Dez Blanchfield, senior executive at Cradle.

The Yellow Machine box offers at least of 1TB storage, RAID protection and EMC Restrospect backup software in one appliance and is designed for many small businesses and SOHO sites, as well as the branch offices of larger organisations and users in verticals such as health and design.

Cradle felt Anthology’s Yellow Machine, a one terabyte box, was what the SME market needed, he said.

The distributor would offer its channel partners two models for reselling the Yellow Machine. Resellers could buy the Yellow Machine on its own or bundle the product with a UPS and VPN, he said.

“We found that while some of our reseller’s customers where happy to buy the solution and take it away without any questions. Others felt they weren’t getting the technical support they needed; it’s no longer adequate for us to just supply technology.”

Cradle also provides financing and rental serivces of the product for the SMB market. It would also offer technical support is also offered through the distributor’s customer service team and field support via its engineers.

“Our resellers are important to us we will be recommending that our customers use resellers to conduct installations on site, providing them with substantial up-sell opportunities. The extra services we provide will allow smaller resellers to focus their time on their core business - selling.”
