Commander and Cisco to deliver new platform
Network services provider Commander Communications will deliver products incorporated with technology from Cisco Systems.

Commander has worked with Cisco and Ericsson to build an Internet Protocol (IP) Next Generation Network (NGN) platform based on the Cisco 7600 Series Router.

The IP NGN means Commander will be able to offer customers an expanded portfolio of IP based network services. The network product range designed to help the SMB and enterprise market with services that include IP telephony, remote access VPN, intranet and extranet site to site VPN, security, hosting and options for managed customer premises equipment.

According to Adrian Coote, managing director of Commander, Cisco’s solution expands Commander’s existing suite of communication products and services and allow it to offer bundled voice and data solutions on a single platform.

In a statement Coote said the services would enable Commander to increase its product offering to existing and new customers.

"Cisco’s clear leadership in the areas of IP routing and MPLS switching made it the logical choice for those components in our NGN network,” he said.

IP NGN combines routing with the performance of switching and will enable Commander to provide data and carrier-grade voice services.

Deployment of the major Cisco components on the network will be completed the end of the month.
