Cisco Australia cloud boss defects to AWS

Cisco Australia director of service provider and cloud business unit Jonathon Dixon has joined Amazon Web Services.

Dixon (pictured, left) joined AWS as the global accounts manager for Asia-Pacific, according to LinkedIn, after almost 10 years at Cisco.

Cisco confirmed to CRN that Dixon has left the company and Andrew Findlay is acting in Dixon's former role.

An AWS spokesperson said the company does not comment on employees or new hires. Dixon declined to comment.

Dixon held several senior roles at Cisco, including enterprise account director, global account director for mining and resources and national sector manager. He became director of service provider and cloud business unit in April 2014.

Prior to Cisco, Dixon was an account executive for IBM for three years. Currently he is also an advisory board member at the Telco Together Foundation.

AWS has also welcomed Aggie Szemplinska (pictured, right) on board as territory account manager for commercial sales.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Szemplinska joined AWS this month after leaving her previous role at PernixData.

Szemplinska joined in storage acceleration vendor in 2015 as its channel sales manager for ANZ. Prior to PernixData, she was partner business manager for channel sales for Veeam from 2013 2015.

She also had a three-year stint at Avnet from 2010 to 2013 starting as VMware business manager before adding Veeam later on.

AWS had already scored several key appointments this year. In April, Adrian De Luca joined AWS as the head of partners and ecosystems solution architecture for Asia-Pacific. Simon Elisha, who worked with De Luca at HDS between 2005 and 2010, also joined the cloud giant in April as head of solution architecture for the public sector for Australia and New Zealand.
