Cisco, Aussie cybersec vendor FirstWave sign OEM deal

Aussie cloud cybersecurity vendor FirstWave has signed an OEM and license agreement partnership with Cisco in a deal that will take the ASX-listed company’s platform to a global audience.

FirstWave said the agreement would offer Cisco’s global customer FirstWave’s cloud service orchestration platform for email, firewall and web security.

While the company did not go into the specifics of the agreement, and Cisco’s Australian team opted not to comment, FirstWave did announce that the deal marked a component of its strategy to expand the business, and that the agreement is expected to “accelerate growth globally”.

“We appreciate Cisco recognising the competitive advantages of our combined solutions, and we look forward to accelerating our global expansion and coupling innovation with safe and secure business for customers,” FirstWave chief executive David Kirton said.

“The agreement reinforces to the market that FirstWave’s locally deployed cloud-based cybersecurity technology platform has global application. We believe it will accelerate the expand phase of our five-year strategic plan.”

The deal follows the Aussie cloud security vendor signing Ingram Micro as its first distributor for its mail security solution in March.

Late last year, FirstWave successfully raised $4.35 million as part of its international growth strategy, which includes developing a new go-to-market channel and commercial models.
