Cognizant has appointed Carla Ramchand as MD of Australia and New Zealand.

She will lead over 1,500 technology professionals to drive Cognizant’s regional growth through its AI Builder strategy, aiming to help clients move beyond experimentation and bridge the gap between AI investment and measurable business outcomes.

Based in Sydney, she will report to Ganesh Ayyar, president for APJ.

Ramchand joins Cognizant from Avanade, where she held senior leadership roles over nine years, most recently as Australia CEO. During her time at Avanade, she played an "instrumental role" in scaling the company’s technology consulting business across six global markets.

Prior to Avanade, Carla held senior executive roles at IBM and Telstra, including the role of EGM for cybersecurity at IBM.

“I am delighted to welcome such an impactful leader to Cognizant,” said Ayyar.

“Carla’s outstanding track record of leading teams through growth, her passion for delivering client outcomes and her global experience make her the right leader for our vibrant Australia and New Zealand business.”

“I’m excited to be joining Cognizant at a time when Australian and New Zealand organisations are focused on turning rapid technology change into real, measurable outcomes,” Ramchand said.

“Cognizant has a strong local team and deep global capability and I’m looking forward to working with clients and partners to help deliver this transformation at pace.”
