Canon converges Harbour IT and Converga

Canon Oceania has brought together its managed IT services subsidiaries Harbour IT and Converga to form Canon Business Services.

The new division, operating in Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines, combines Harbour IT’s technical and cloud capabilities with Converga’s business efficiency solutions.

Leading the new division is Luke Clark, who has been chief executive for both Harbour IT and Converga since last year.

“From financial and manufacturing industries, to education and legal services, we’re already having great conversations with companies that are looking at a range of our solutions to increase productivity,” Luke Clark said in an announcement of the new organisation.

“Combining these companies’ services also means we have a broader capability and a more seamless experience to offer, with a single point of contact. We intimately know their business and they trust us to provide even greater value – it’s our key to success.”

Canon first acquired a 51 percent majority stake into Harbour IT in 2014, eventually buying out the whole company three years later. Sydney-based Converga and its 1300 staff was then acquired in 2015 from parent company New Zealand Post.

Canon Oceania managing director Dave Yoshida said bringing together the subsidiaries was “a natural evolution” for Canon.

“Combining these services with our existing Business Information Solutions products means we can offer our customers a truly end-to-end range of business solutions - whether it’s to fulfil their enterprise print needs or overhauling their digital transformation.”

Coinciding with the launch, both Harbour IT and Converga launched new offerings - Azure Stack-as-a-Service and Robotic Process Automation (RPA)-as-a-Service, respectively. Harbour IT will also partner with HPE and Equinix to deliver HPE ProLiant for Azure Stack.
