Identity management company CA has announced plans to acquire Orchestria Corporation, a provider of data loss prevention technology, for an undisclosed sum.
CA said that it will offer Orchestria's technology alongside its own to allow organisations to strengthen security practices and increase the protection of their data.
"With this acquisition, CA will deliver one of the broadest and most advanced information security solutions in the market today, and address the demand for a new generation of identity and access management," said Dave Hansen, security management senior executive at CA.
The combined technologies will allow customers of CA and Orchestria to control staff access to data, and set policies on how that data can be used based on an employee's identity and role, CA said.
"As the lines between information management and information security blur, the combination with CA offers our joint customers a solution to streamline business-critical security measures," said Orchestria founder and chief technology officer Pete Malcolm.
