CA reshuffles sales team to reflect acquisitions

CA Technologies has reshuffled its sales unit to incorporate recent acquisitions and align the business with its cloud computing strategy.

'Virtual Cloud' has become CA's newest business unit. The vendor's four other divisions are: Service Assurance; Virtualisation Service Automation; Clarity & Security; and Mainframe.

Brenton Smith, ANZ vice president and area manager at CA Technologies, said the company has made 13 positions redundant, created 10, and appointed five business unit heads since April.

"The sale organisation has, over the last three years, had a business unit structure that helps us focus on our various product lines," he said. "We tweaked those around slightly and appointed new executives into those roles"

Many of the changes reflect CA's cloud-focused acquisitions of Nimsoft, Oblicore, and 3Tera, following which it recruited two staff from Nimsoft and two from Oblicore.

CA Technologies' new business unit directors are responsible for local product strategy and act as product management points of contact.

New business heads:

Cloud: Carl Terrantroy

Prior to joining CA Technologies, Carl Terrantroy was director and manager of the Business Development Team within the Technology Business Unit at Oracle where he drove Oracle's WEB2.0 launch and strategy.

Service Assurance: David Balazsy

Prior to joining CA Technologies, David Balazsy held the position of regional sales manager for MKS Software where he was hired to launch the MKS sales operation in Australia and New Zealand.

Virtualisation and Service Automation (VSA):  Peter Sharples

Sharples joined CA in 2008. Prior to this, he spent two years at Symantec in the role of business development manager for the ACT and the Federal region, where he focused on enterprise security and data protection as well as channel sales.

Clarity & Security: John Kearney

Kearney joined CA in August 2005, following the company's acquisition of Niku Corporation. At Niku, Kearney held the position of senior pre-sales consultant and established the Niku Corporation business in Australia in 1999.

Mainframe: Savio Saldanha

Saldanha had over 20 years of industry experience prior to joining CA. He was employed at EDS in Europe, Boeing in the Middle East and more recently, the Australian Customs and Border Protection agency.

"All five business unit heads have shown that they have the expertise, energy and ideas to make a significant impact and drive our business," Smith said.

Research and development, support, security and recovery channel were unaffected

CA was renamed as CA Technologies at CA World in May this year.
