Broadsoft and Telstra sign first multi-year contract

Collaboration vendor Broadsoft has signed its largest unified communications contract in Australia with Telstra.

This is the first-ever multi-year contract between the two companies, which have been partnering for close to 10 years.

Under the new agreement, customers can connect via cloud communication and collaborate in the workplace from anywhere with an internet connection on all compatible devices.

Broadsoft and Telstra will primarily target the SME markets.

Telstra uses Broadsoft Business technology applications with three of its UC offerings: Telstra IP Telephony (TIPT), Telstra DOT (Digital Office Technology) and Telstra SIP Connect.

TIPT is a fully managed cloud service that offers a complete UC solution for medium to large enterprise customers. Telstra DOT provides an all-in-one mobile, landline and broadband solution for small and medium sized businesses. Telstra SIP Connect allows customers to retain in-place legacy systems and to move away from legacy PSTN and ISDN services to a single converged voice and data service on Telstra Next IP network or NBN.

Telstra executive director, global products Michelle Bendschneider said: "Utilising BroadSoft technology, Telstra can offer our customers the opportunity to reduce hardware costs, as everything is hosted in the cloud, while also helping businesses increase productivity."

Broadsoft Business is the vendor's enterprise-ready cloud, unified communications, team collaboration and contact centre applications, delivered in the cloud.

The vendor announced in February a migration plan to transition customers away from Avaya and onto its own business cloud services.

At the time, the vendor's chief digital and marketing officer Taher Behbehani said: "For years businesses relied on expensive premise systems, not because they were the best choice, but because they were often the only choice."
