Broadband Solutions launches no-contract cloud hosting

Broadband Solutions is the latest hosting company to expand its contract-free services, announcing a $2 million investment in 20 racks at Melbourne Data Centre (MDC).

Broadband Solutions, which was ranked No.5 in the 2014 CRN Fast50, is partnering with managed hosting provider SecurITon, to provide "secure cloud solutions, including a PAYG solution and private cloud".

The company's clients will be able to co-locate their own hardware in MDC; they can purchase as little as one rack unit with no contract, paid monthly.

Sam Bashiry, managing director of Broadband Solutions, said: "We are so excited to be investing in Melbourne Data Centre and SecurITon Technologies to boost the cloud computing division of Broadband Solutions. The cloud computing market has grown exponentially in recent years and we expect this to continue in the near future."

The push into the infrastructure-as-a-service and software-as-a-service space marks continued evolution for Broadband Solutions, which is well known as an internet service provider for the hotel sector – it counts more than 80 percent of Australian hotels as customers.

Broadband Solutions joins other cloud and hosting providers such as NextDC, Megaport and Bulletproof to offer PAYG models.

In November 2014, NextDC revealed its FastStart co-location bundles, a pay-by-the-month option starting from a 1kW quarter rack up to a 6kW full rack.

Bulletproof began offering AWS On Demand in October 2013.

Megaport is built around an on-demand model. In February, it announced Megaportal, a network-as-a-service portal that allows users to dial up network capacity on a per-day and per-month basis.
