Brennan IT has launched a network point of presence in New Zealand making it one of only a few to provide managed data and cloud services to organisations on both sides of the Tasman.
"In partnership with Telecom New Zealand we can route traffic from anywhere in New Zealand right throughout Australia on a private network,” Brennan IT managing director Dave Stevens said.
“Customers get guaranteed levels of service and we can run quality of service such as traffic prioritisation on our private IP product."
Stevens said that, previously, Brennan’s customers with trans-Tasman operations had no other option but to connect via “an internet-style termination”.
"It really wasn't good enough quality,” Stevens said. “We've now made an investment that enables us to offer exactly the same SLAs as we do in Australia, while keeping costs down and performance up."
Brennan IT said the network would be faster, more reliable and secure for customers as well as more convenient because bills were in Australian dollars on one account.
Surf label Billabong, luggage company Strandbags and lingerie brand Bendon were customers.
Stevens said the service enabled Brennan IT to offer cloud services in the New Zealand market where there was only a small number of providers.
“They have a few cloud providers over there, but they're not quite as prolific as the Australian providers."
Brennan IT expected the network to help New Zealand businesses expand into Australia while making it easier for staff travelling between the two countries to access data and conduct region-wide upgrades.
"We're able to offer a rich layer of managed services from videoconferencing to VoIP to cloud computing right throughout New Zealand now: there's nothing stopping us from offering those services," Stevens said.
