AvanTEC, an Australian distributor of rugged hardware products, has brought a range of handheld devices into the Australian market.
The handheld Nautiz range of rugged PDA computers are European designed handheld devices, that come with Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system and are 3G-enabled for phone and data use.
Dave Cawsey, general manager of AvanTEC told CRN resellers with a focus on mobility and workforce software and solutions would be interested in the products.
Cawsey said they could make margins starting from 20 percent depending on the opportunity size of the order, how they package the solution and what value add they incorporate into the solution.
"[Resellers] can wrap their own service and software, implementation support, software (customisation and configuration), ongoing support, project management, data and network services," he said.
"[The devices] [are for] anyone who requires reliable and durable mobile data and voice communications outside or in a non-office environment where its hot, cold, damp, wet, raining or likely to be dropped."
Cawsey said all models were with integrated SiRF Star III GPS, Bluetooth 2.0 and 802.11b/g WLAN functionality, a three-megapixel camera with autofocus and an LED flash.
The rugged X5 also includes a standard 1-D laser barcode scanner, while the ultra-rugged X7 features an integrated compass and altimeter and a G-force accelerometer that can measure speed, vibration and rotation.
The Nautiz eTicket was a PDA designed for payment transactions and validations and includes a standard 2D imager barcode scanner.
Cawsey said the recommended retail price for the Nautiz X5 started from $1,825, the X7 from $1,975 and the eTicket from $2642 (excluding GST).
