Australian software developer Unico Computer Systems, which boasts Telstra, NAB and Tabcorp as past clients, has opened an office in New Zealand.

Unico managing director John Rowland said the expansion was brought about by the local demand for Unico’s specialist solutions.

“New Zealand is a highly innovative marketplace, with resourceful companies doing a lot of development internally. This is where our deep expertise, established over nearly 30 years of doing innovative development within large Australian telcos will be invaluable,” he said.

Rowland said Unico has identified a number of opportunities to support New Zealand telcos' growth and acquisition strategies.

Unico sales director Jason Beaumont said: “Our innovative customers across New Zealand are set to gain an unfair advantage over their rivals from utilising our specialist IT capabilities. In a small market place like New Zealand this advantage will be hard to beat and hard to catch up to for others."

Unico is an Australian IT services company whose specialities include software development, application support, technical consulting, solution delivery and managed services.
