Aussie MSP clinches $2.3m Immigration contract

Canberra-based managed services provider Epicon IT Solutions has won a $2.3 million contract with the federal Department of Immigration and Border Protection.

"Epicon will provide tools support for service management processes," a spokesperson for the Minister for Immigration and Border Protection told CRN.

"This means if there is an issue with the tools that support the service management functions – for example HP Service Manager 9, HP Universal Configuration Management Data base or HP Asset Manager – Epicon will resolve those issues."

The contract started on 1 April and will run for more than two years, to June 2016.

The ministerial spokesperson confirmed that the deal includes on-site Epicon staff and that the MSP will supply "second and third level tools support for service management processes".

Epicon's responsibilities under the federal contract run the full gamut, with the spokesperson saying the remit includes "deployment and integration services" for the service management software and "incident, problem, change, release, request, asset, configuration and event management".

"[Epicon was] the best value for money for the Department of Immigration and Border Protection," said the spokeperson.

Epicon was founded in 2008 and bills itself as an HP specialist. The firm has performed similar duties for the Department previously, under an arrangement with Unisys.

The company specialises in "the entire HP Management toolset", according to the Epicon website. The integrator has HP solutions architects who provide "consulting to hands-on assistance in implementing custom solutions ".

The latest deal follows the Department of Immigration and Border Protection's $1 million contract with Ajilon who will provide testing services, as CRN reported last month.
