Although details are scarce, the vendor claims it won't be axing any Australian resellers or distributors.
Gordon Kerr, product manager - consumer products at ASUS, told CRN, the vendor was re-evaluating existing channel structures and strategies.
"[Also] we are looking at the way we work with resellers, distributors and channel partners," he said.
"The focus is on improving the alignment of corporate goals and growth through mutual profitability."
According to Kerr, the channel evaluation comes off the back of the vendor's announcement that it would raise its hardware product prices by 20 percent.
"The decision to increase prices is due to fluctuating exchange rates, as well as the rise in cost of computer parts and manufacturing operations," he claimed.
"[For example] price increases are up to 20 percent - between 4.2 percent - 20 percent depending on product.
"The business environment is facing tough times and ASUS is making the necessary adjustments to ensure product is profitable while maintaining a level of functionality, finish, quality and warranty support."
Kerr claimed the current economic climate, made price increases inevitable and were expected by its channel partners.
"Adjustments were highlighted to resellers prior to implementation," he said.
"All attempts have been made to minimise the price rises.
"The amounts implemented are what the company deemed absolutely necessary."
CRN will keep readers updated on any changes to Asus' channel strategy in the region.
