Arrow clinches EMC VSPEX Blue distribution rights

EMC has appointed Arrow Electronics as the second distributor for its channel-only hyper-converged appliance, VSPEX Blue.

“This unique channel-only model has many advantages as it allows Arrow to tailor the solution per customer from inception to delivery,” said Trevitt. “Bringing on Arrow re-emphasises our commitment to the Australian channel.”

VSPEX Blue came to the Australian channel in February via Avnet. While Avnet was initially the sole distributor for VSPEX Blue, EMC general manager for partner sales Chris Trevitt had said at the time that the door was open to add another distributor later down the line.

VPSEX Blue is based on VMware's EVO:Rail appliance, but with extra management capabilities and a technology market added into the software layer by EMC. The device is assembled by the distributor, who brings on hardware and support from third-party vendors as well as EMC.

It originally launched worldwide in February, following a surprise merger of the VCE and VSPEX business into a US$1 billion-plus converged infrastructure business operated by EMC.

Arrow's international operations have already partnered with EMC to deliver VSPEX Blue to North American and European markets, but this is the first product Arrow Australia will offer from EMC.
