Apple to lob curve ball into next phone spec battle

Apple has recently been awarded a patent for a 'curved touch sensor' manufacturing technique which will produce curved glass touchscreens.

Not to be confused with the flexible plastic displays found on the LG G Flex and Samsung Galaxy Round, Apple's curvy glass screen will be a truly curved touch surface with curved touch senor panels, as opposed to existing applications in which the panels are flat and are merely covered by curved glass.

This design reduces the distance between the surface of the glass and the touch sensor layers beneath it, resulting in greater accuracy and the ability to create other shapes like wavy displays.

It's unclear as to whether or not we'll be seeing a curved glass display in the iPhone 6, but it's safe to say that Apple's got plenty in its arsenal for the next few smartphone wars.
