Apple planned to open its fifth company-owned shop in NSW next week in Charlestown, 158 km north of Sydney.
The shop is located in the refurbished Charlestown Square, 12 km south of Newcastle and will open as part of the shopping centre's grand opening on 21 October.
Apple premium reseller and authorised service provider Mac1 Newcastle is located about 5km away near the town's other major shopping precinct Kotara Westfield.
Mac1 was unavailable for comment when contacted by CRN.
Apple has ramped up its self-owned retail locations recently launching what was at the time its fourth Sydney shop in Castle Hill, moments away from an existing Next Byte shop and the new Bondi Junction shop where an existing My Mac was located.
The shop will include Apple store services such as the Genius Bar, workshops and programs for kids.
The hardware maker has advertised a number of positions for its Charlestown shop including a store leader and manager.
Apple said the shop will stock the iPad, iPod, the new iPod shuffle as well as the iPod touch iPad and the iPhone.
Last week Apple opened the refurbished My Mac shop, a Melbourne-based premium reseller that was selected to become Apple's first Australian partner under what appeared to be a new partner program.
