Intel has claimed strong growth within its APAC channel as the chip giant targets further expansion in the SME segment.
Speaking at the Intel Solutions Summit in Auckland, New Zealand, Tom Rampone, general manager of the Channel Platforms Group at Intel, said there is a significant opportunity in the SME space.
“Intel is leading in all segments and this is leading to opportunities in gaming, mobility and working with SME firms. Intel's APAC and PRC channel is more important than ever and today represents 40 percent of Intel's worldwide channel revenue.”
Donald MacDonald, general manger of global marketing at Intel, added that their success during 2007 has been because of the channel. “Despite the changes in the market, the channel has been resilient. We are committed to developing the channel's growth and ensuring our technology is relevant to our channel partners."
According to Kamil Hasan, the newly appointed director of reseller channel operations for Asia-Pacific Australia is a mature market. “We will continue to expand our channel there. Going downstream [towards the SME market] is very important for us, as that is where the growth is going to come from."
