Andrew Thomas’ AtlasPlato bets big on Delphix

AtlasPlato, the startup consultancy led by Thomas Duryea co-founder Andrew Thomas, has added three staff to take on data acesss vendor Delphix.

The new hires take AtlasPlato’s headcount to ten and therefore represent a significant bet on Delphix, which makes software that provides secure access to data throughout an organisation.

Delphix’s shtick is that “data operators” – people like database administrators –guard data too closely and make it hard for “data consumer” – developers, analysts and data scientists – to do their job. The company therefore ingests data to make it available to both groups in the expectation that data-driven insights beam down like sunshine and make everyone in a business warm and happy.

Richard Gerdis, Delphix’s vice president and general manager for APJ, said the company already has partners in Australia, but most are global SIs and none can match AtlasPlato’s Sydney and Melbourne footprint or cloud expertise.

David Gulli, co-CTO of AtlasPlato, told CRN that while the likes of IBM and Oracle offer similar products to Delphix, he thinks customers will appreciate the latter vendor’s independence. He also feels customers will appreciate the chance to quickly transform data from core business applications into a form usable across the business.
