Available now, the Athlon X2 7000 series forms part of the company's Cartwheel platform, along with the AMD 780G chipset that has integrated ATI Radeon 3200 graphics functions.
The new Athlon X2 7000 series comprises the 2.5GHz X2 7550, which will be available only to system builders, and the 2.7GHz X2 7750 'Black Edition' that has an unlocked clock multiplier and is available at a system builder price of $79 (£52).
