Macquarie Telecom has made $5.4 million in net profit for the 2016 financial year, a 223 percent boost compared to 2015.
Last year, the Australian communications and data centre provider had a loss of $4.3 million, partially because of the depreciation of Ninefold - the cloud business that was closed in anuary.
MacTel's revenue for the year was up by a $10 million or 5 percent, to hit $203 million, which was attributed to growth in cloud services and government mainly.
There was a 23 percent increase in the EBITDA with a total of $32.3 million.
Macquarie Telecom Group is divided into three segments: telecom, cloud services and government. MacTel has been contracted by 42 percent of federal government agencies, according to the company.
For the current financial year, the company expects EBITDA to continue growing. The telecom segment will invest in new data networking technology and in-sourcing the networking operations centre to reduce costs and improve service for 2018.
Cloud services will continue to focus on the delivery of the 2.5MW of capacity into Intellicentre 2 to provide for a new customer signed in May.
