Acronis GM to drive growth

Acronis has recruited former Dell executive director Andy Purvis as general manager for Australia and New Zealand. Purvis' practical experience includes start-ups, private-to-public ventures, as well as working in established publicly listed corporations across Europe, the US and Asia-Pacific. Prior to Dell he was in the COO chair for the high-profile IT services and telecommunications infrastructure specialist Brennan IT.

Panasonic lands HP exec

Panasonic has snatched HP’s former Asia Pacific sales director to lead its local Toughbook business, with Deane Hornsby jumping on board as the division’s new group manager. In his new role, Hornsby will focus on strengthening the Toughbook range’s key business markets in Australia, including government, defence and utilities, delivery fleets and field services workers. He takes over the role following former Toughbook manager Mark Wallis’ departure earlier this year.

Kelly Kent has taken up the reins as solutions delivery manager, based in Melbourne, for Altis Consulting. Kent was previously business development director at Resonate Consulting. Before that she was at Oracle in consulting roles based in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. She joined JD Edwards in Brisbane as a senior consultant prior to its acquisition by Oracle, and went on to sell PeopleSoft services in NSW.

Zuora names account chief

Subscription billing and commerce platform provider Zuora has appointed Iman Ghodosi as account director, based in Sydney. Ghodosi joins Zuora with 15 years’ experience in the industry and was formerly account director, applications, at Oracle where he was responsible for enterprise accounts in financial services, media and communications. He previously worked at NetSuite as account manager, enterprise, with responsibility for new business and managing accounts across Australia and New Zealand.

Hitachi man moves to Allied Telesis

James Burke has moved from Hitachi Australia to Allied Telesis as enterprise business development manager, based in Melbourne. Burke will be responsible for channel partner support and business development for a range of video, voice and data network solutions to clients in multiple markets, including government, healthcare, defence, education, retail, hospitality and network service providers. Burke brings 17 years’ experience in the industry and was employed for the past five years as a dusiness development manager at Hitachi.

Oracle veteran joins Software

Greg Taylor is the new vice president of Australia and New Zealand for Software AG, provider of business process excellence solutions. He joins after a 15-year stint at Oracle where he held a number of senior roles, the most recent being vice president and general manager of Oracle Fusion Middleware.

Macquarie gets ops head

Macquarie Telecom has recruited William Priest as group executive of operations. Reporting to CEO David Tudehope, Priest will be responsible for the company’s $5 million customer contact centre, MacquarieHUB, while maintaining service and network operations and the customer service management team. Priest has held a number of roles with companies such as AT&T, IBM, France Telecom – Orange Group, Price Waterhouse and Ernst & Young.

Kroll boosts customer team

Kroll Ontrack has beefed up its customer service team with the appointment of two executives based in Brisbane. Rebecca Armstrong and Amelia Connor join Kroll with two decades of combined customer service. Armstrong (pictured) was previously at Quantum Energy where she was business development and sustainability manager. Connor joins Kroll from Suncorp Metway where she was in sales and services. She was also a customer service officer with SITA Environmental Solutions.

Nuance fills top slot

Nuance Communications has recruited Gordon Clubb as managing director for Australia and New Zealand. His focus will be on strengthening Nuance’s position in speech and natural language understanding solutions. Based in Sydney, Clubb will report to Jason Stirling, senior vice president and general manager, Asia Pacific. Clubb has more than 36 years experience in senior management, marketing and sales roles at SAS, Vodafone and Xerox. He joins Nuance from SAS, where he was most recently regional director of South East Asia and MD of SAS A/NZ.

Caylx fills Perth spot

Business process management (BPM) solutions provider Caylx has named Jaques van der Merwe as business systems developer based in Perth. He brings more than 10 years’ experience in the IT industry, including seven years in the document management sector. Originally from South Africa, Van der Merwe was business systems developer at the consultants Shandon Business Solutions. In this role, Van der Merwe was responsible for development of .NET integration projects within public sector organisations.
