What flash solutions do you sell?
Both IBM in-server and flash storage systems and NetApp in-server and flash arrays
What credentials do you have that apply to flash?
We maintain IBM Power Systems and IBM Enterprise Storage certifications, and NetApp accredited certifications. We sold our first in-server flash storage solution in 2012 to a large retail customer; the solution was a combination of traditional storage and PCIe flash cards.
Who are your main distributors for flash?
For flash technology, our main distributors are Avnet, Ingram and Distribution Central.
Heard about any cool flash technology recently?
Yes: IBM X6 eXFlash DDR3 Storage DIMM. It is interesting because it allows flash memory to system memory direct transfer with extremely low latency. In fact, the latency is only 3.3 milliseconds, and given the demand for faster compute, the eXFlash DDR3 plays to that demand.
Can you tell us about any recent flash deployments?
Just recently, we have installed IBM SSD PCIe SAS adapters for several of our IBM Power Systems customers who were looking for additional disk performance for the core business systems.
What is driving customers towards flash over traditional storage?
Flash allows customers to improve performance of their core business applications by providing storage with significantly faster transfer rates than traditional storage architecture. Customers are finding that flash storage is accelerating enterprise applications and speeding up data analytics.
Flash is…?
Enabling our business partners to provide performance boosts to the systems that need it. These boosts are improving productivity, increasing throughput and reducing turnaround, all of which are benefits for any business.
