The Australian Broadcasting Corporation's iView service will be introduced into the Megaport IX virtual LAN to allow private access for the network provider's users.
"Bringing ABC iview into a peering model is hugely important to the Australian market and we are honoured to have [the ABC] connecting to networks across the country using Megaport," said Megaport's new chief Denver Maddux.
"We are incredibly excited to see ABC join the Megaport platform."
Megaport IX, or MegaIX, is a virtual local area network that provides "customers with access to content and providers in the Megaport ecosystem", according to the vendor's website. The ABC will be on the Sydney version of the VLAN.
The availability of iView on VLAN would enable Megaport's customers to "save money on data transit costs and improve the speed of content delivery", said a spokesperson.
Megaport's ecosystem has successfully grown in the past year, with launches imminent in "Singapore, Hong Kong, North America and Europe".
The data connections provider was founded in 2013 by Bevan Slattery, who revealed last month of his intentions to split up Megaport along the business lines of fibre provider, Superloop, and connectivity reseller, Megaport.
Former Microsoft and Limelight exec Denver Maddux was appointed as Megaport CEO to complement the demerger, although Slattery remains owner of both new entities.
Maddux's recruitment added to the hiring of former Olympian Libby Trickett as national channel and partner manager in February.
