Telstra has globally launched a unified communications service through its cloud, allowing business customers to communicate from anywhere in the world.
Telstra Cloud Collaboration, developed in partnership with Cisco, was unveiled domestically last year but the latest announcement ushered in a globalised version of the UC-as-a-service product.
The service will be billed on a per month per employee basis, with different "worker types"– such as "office" and "mobile" – available for subscription. The cloud service is already available to domestic customers, while international businesses will be able to subscribe from the end of the month.
Telstra's director of marketing for portfolio and pricing, Nathan Bell, said that customers could reduce upfront costs while ensuring "employees working remotely have identical resources to those working in the office".
"Businesses can roll-out extensive collaboration and communications tools to staff throughout the world, scale user profiles and functionality up and down depending on business requirements," said Bell.
The solution will cover 25 countries in four continents, delivered via 2,000 Telstra points of presence.
"It is also a globally consistent platform ensuring that standardisation and collaboration are made that much easier for customers seeking to empower their teams, regardless of the location of their offices or data," said Bell.
The UC-as-a-service offering is not the only international project Cisco and Telstra have collaborated on. Earlier this month, CRN reported that Telstra's Cisco-powered cloud service would be released in the North American market in November.
