Telco wholesaler Inabox will add more than 100 wholesale customers with the purchase of Australian cloud and VoiP provider Neural Networks.
The telco provider will purchase all assets and customer agreements and the majority of staff and supplier agreements from the Brisbane-based Neural Networks. Inabox will pay $350,000 as well as an "earn-out payment" depending on the financial performance of Neural Networks.
The acquisition is expected to complete in early July, subject to various sale conditions.
Inabox chief executive Damian Kay told CRN that Neural Networks' customers were not dissimilar to those of Inabox brand iVox, which he said included "big system integrators" and "big" MSPs.
Kay would not reveal the names of either company's existing system integrator clients, saying wholesale customers often preferred their customers not to know where they buy their access from.
Clients listed on the Neural Networks website include Gizmo, IT Elements, Denovio, Netsecure Systems, AnswerZ IT Consulting and Saltbush Group.
Toshiba Australia IP phone systems are VOIP enabled using Inabox, while Inabox has partnered with NBN provider Harbour ISP to deliver residential and business voice services to NBN customers.
Neural Networks also brings with it back-end systems to support cloud products, including a customer portal Inabox will use.
Kay said he expects more acquisitions to come. "We're currently in discussions on more acquisitions. This won't be the only one.
"There's still a lot of money in voice, I can tell you. Voice still represents the biggest over-the-top data product in the market today."
