Ingram Micro rebounds in Australia
Ingram Micro Australia has fulfilled its promise of returning to profit for the fourth-quarter of 2013, after some turbulent years for the distie in the local market. The world's biggest distributor "achieved the company's target for non-GAAP operating profitability in the 2013 fourth quarter, improving more than $12 million from the operating loss in last year's fourth quarter", according to a statement accompanying its fourth-quarter results.

Ingram Micro is Kingston Technology's distie of the year
Kingston has named Ingram Micro as its Australian distributor of the year for 2013. According to Scott Chen, vice-president, APAC region for Kingston, Ingram Micro was instrumental in helping drive growth for Kingston in the Australian market. Julian Phua, Ingram Micro’s Senior Director, Volume Technology Group said "2013 was a great year for Kingston Technology and Ingram Micro."

Ingram Micro's cloud marketplace goes global
Ingram Micro gave its cloud computing business a global boost Monday, unveiling plans to significantly grow its reach across the planet as part of a major expansion of its Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace. Ingram Micro said Monday that it would open up its cloud business as a worldwide business opportunity for customers that specialise in local infrastructure-as-a-service and software-as-a-service-based solutions and are interested in scaling globally

Ingram Micro unveils new tool for resellers
Distributor Ingram Micro has released a software licensing tool for its channel partners. The new Click2License "wizard" style utility has been added to Ingram's broader Techlink e-commerce website. The module allows resellers to "order licences online, create and save quotes, or request quotes from our Licensing Quote Desk experts", according to managing director Matt Sanderson.

Ingram Micro rebrands
Ingram Micro has rebranded with a new logo that represents its "evolution from a distribution powerhouse to the world leader in technology and supply chain services". The corporate refresh comes after some major investments in the past year, including the acquisition of cloud aggregator SoftCom in September and e-commerce firm Shipwire in October, and the launch of its cloud marketplace in November. Ingram has made 22 acquisitions in the past decade.

Ingram Micro acquires IT services company
Ingram Micro bolstered its IT services portfolio with the acquisition of Minnesota-based IT services company Rollouts, the company said late Monday. Rollouts specialises in helping provide the talent and the people to handle big projects and implement cost-effective solutions delivery. Ingram Micro will get access to the company's e-Technicians network, with more than 15,000 technicians for IT services. Rollouts also has a project management team and project tracking tool.

Ingram shucks off ERP dramas to grow sales $170m
Ingram Micro Australia grew sales by $170 million and dramatically reduced losses for its 2013 financial year. The company's most recent financials reported to corporate regulator ASIC cover the 12 months to 28 December 2013. Ingram Micro Australia reports on a calendar year to tie in with its global parent.

Ingram's David Lenz spearheads new 'specialist' strategy
Ingram Micro senior director David Lenz is spearheading the distie's push into two new areas: physical security and pro AV. Lenz was previously senior director of the 'advanced solutions' unit, looking after Ingram's enterprise portfolio, such as Cisco, IBM, HP and APC by Schneider Electric. As of July, he has been heading up its new speciality division.

Ingram signs LG for commercial displays
Ingram Micro has clinched a deal to distribute LG commercial displays in Australia and to open a product demonstration facility at the distie's Sydney head office. The distribution giant said in a statement today that the commercial range available through its ProAV division would include large-format solutions such as "ultra-HD resolution screens, video walls, outdoor, interactive, and digital signage monitors", as well as televisions.

Ingram to distribute Dell in Australia
Dell has appointed Ingram Micro Australia as the first-ever local distributor for its full enterprise portfolio. Ingram will be able to distribute Dell's entire compute, storage and networking range, including PowerEdge Servers, PowerVault, EqualLogic and Compellent storage platforms and Dell Networking, the umbrella brand that includes PowerConnect and Force10 switches.

Ingram's Australian cloud offensive revealed
Ingram Micro Australia has shaken up its approach to cloud with a new division that uses the distie's international weight to give it an edge over rivals. Cloud is nothing new to Ingram – it has been selling cloud products for three years. But the structure of the local division is meant to improve the distie's ability to dominate cloud as it has in desktop and traditional IT. The strategy comes as cloud activity heats up among Australian distributors, with Avnet, Westcon and Distribution Central all recently announcing new go-to-market plans.
