You can try an Apple Watch in store in Australia today

Customers can visit any of Apple's Australian stores to try on all three models of its new smartwatch: the $499 Sport, $799 Watch and $14,000 18-karat Edition version, before ordering online.

The vendor has begun taking pre-orders for its Apple Watch exclusively online beginning today.

CRN dropped by the George St store in Sydney today. While display tables were busy, there was no sign of the queues and fanfare from the Apple faithful that accompany the launch of the latest iDevice, perhaps due to Apple's decision to first preview the devices and to only start by selling them online.

Apple expects customer demand to exceed its supply at launch, and will only be available for pre-order from its website at launch.

An Apple spokesperson confirmed that all Australian outlets have preview stock in-store today.

Apple Watch will begin delivery on 24 April in Australia, as well as the US, UK, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong and Japan.
