A new version of Google Glass is set to release imminently, it has been announced.
Massimo Vian, the CEO of Luxottica - the biggest eyewear manufacturer in the world - told the company's general meeting that it has partnered with Google to make the smart glasses, which will be released soon, the Wall Street Journal reports.
Google declined to comment beyond saying the Glass team was "heads down building the future of the product".

If true, this would indicate Google is continuing its mission to position Google Glass as a luxury fashion item, rather than nerdwear. Luxottica is the company behind Ray-Ban and Oakley, and also makes eyewear under license for the likes of Prada, Chanel, D&G, Burberry, Stella McCartney and Versace.
In January 2014 Google had a bash at making trendy glasses under its own branding to make them more appealing to the general consumer.
Later that year, shortly before the demise of the first version of Google Glass, the company partnered with designer Diane von Furstenberg to create a range of designer Google Glass sunglasses. The headsets had previously made an appearance at her New York Fashion Week 2012 runway show.
Vian didn't give an exact date for the release of the new version of Google Glass, but indicated they would be coming soon.
He also stated this won't be the final version of the device.
"In Google, there are some second thoughts on how to interpret version three [of Google Glass]," Vian told shareholders. "What you saw was version one. We're now working on version two, which is in preparation [for version three]."
