The company is the sole distributor in Australia for both Digium and Meru Networks and distributes a range of products from Polycom, CommtechWireless and GlobeStar.
Its latest agreement with Digium is to offer Switchvox, an Asterisk-based appliance which relies on a switchboard to manage and organise call flow.
According to Jonathan Ordman, director of Wavelink, the Switchvox is ‘easy to use and set up’ because the appliance detects the phones as soon as they are plugged into a local network and the phonelines download all configuration information directly from the server.
“We are in the process of recruiting channel partners for the Switchvox which was released in Australia two weeks ago,” said Ordman.
“We consider ourselves to be value added distributors with three brands and we are looking for vendors that are in the IT space that have experience with networking, VoIP and data networking because we want to expand the business by 80 percent next year,” he added.
Ordman claims the next big area of growth in the IP telephony and wireless space will be voice and potentially video with larger band widths which will be attractive to universities, hospitals, and major factories with thousands of access points.
“We are focusing on business applications to do with VoIP and wireless so that we can move into a space where we can mix and match our solutions. We may expand into video conferencing also,” said Ordman.
Meru Networks has just entered the Australian market and has selected Wavelink to represent the brand here. It will also be responsible for its market development program.
Meru is known for its development of 802.11n enterprise WLAN infrastructure which enables wireless networks to support voice, data and video over IP in high-use environments.
Wavelink will be supplying Polycom’s KIRK DECT and Spectralink Wi-Fi wireless voice solutions as well as its range of SoundPoint IP desk phones and IP and analogue SoundStation voice conference phones.
According to Ordman the company is now shifting its place in the market from supplying only digital wireless voice and messaging systems to include the broader range of Polycom, Digium and Meru products and services.
