Cloud storage provider Wasabi Technologies has appointed Andre Carpenter as its managing director for its Australia and New Zealand operations, signalling a commitment to expanding its presence in the region.

Carpenter, who brings over 15 years of IT sales and leadership experience in the Asia Pacific region, was most recently Crayon rhipe's director of cloud solutions for the Asia Pacific.

He will oversee the United States headquartered cloud storage company's growing partner and customer base in ANZ from the regional headquarters in Melbourne.

Carpenter brings experience from roles at major technology companies like Dell EMC, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, NetApp, Oracle, and Veeam.

Some 89 per cent of Australian organisations expect to increase their public cloud storage in 2024, the APAC Wasabi Cloud Storage Index suggests.

Wasabi's channel-first strategy will play a key role in its ANZ expansion and Carpenter plans to work closely with partners to help customers leverage the company's secure hot cloud storage solutions.

For resellers, Wasabi's focus on affordable and high-performance cloud storage could open doors to customers looking for cost-effective alternatives to traditional cloud storage providers.

Charles Darwin University and James Cook University, as well as local government like Hauraki District Council in New Zealand are some of Wasabi's customer wins in the region.

Wasabi partnered with Dell in May this year to provide hybrid cloud solutions for backup, data protection, and long term retention to customers.

In March, Wasabi launched a whitelabel program that allows partners to create their own-branded offerings, integrating cloud storage solutions.
