Vocus Communications will take a $15.6 million stake in hosting provider Macquarie Telecom Group.
The deal, dubbed a "physically-settled equity swap", will give Vocus a 14.5 percent stake in MacTel. The investment is not expected to have a material effect on Vocus’ business and financial position.
Vocus’ acquisition haul in the last 12 months will be worth approximately $158 million once the Macquarie Telecom Group deal is settled.
Vocus has been busy doing deals adding data centres, fibre connectivity and hundreds of staff, transforming the company into a national telecommunications provider.
The proposed acquisition of Amcom Telecommunications will be put before Amcom shareholders for their vote on 6 May. The combined business will boast 20 data centres.
Meanwhile, in February Vocus announced a $23.5 million purchase of two data centres in Sydney and Melbourne from Enterprise Data Corporation, providing cross selling opportunities to new customers.
It announced a $107.7 million deal to buy New Zealand fibre provider FX Networks Limited in September 2014, and in August last year it spent $11.7 million on a Perth data centre from ASG.
