Vignette asks partners to drive Web 2.0 in 2009
The increased interest in its reseller program has been on the back of a new partner program initiated by Rob Amor, vice president for partners and alliances (Amor took over this role in May this year).

Dave Dutch, senior vice president - products and marketing - Vignette, told CRN that it has invested in enablement programs for its new resellers to ensure they have the skills to both sell and implement the Vignette solutions.

“We are expecting a significant increase in the business that we do through our channels business in 2009,” he said.

According to Dutch, the Web management and delivery applications vendor, it has a number of resellers who have done very well reselling Vignette solutions.

He claimed this should improve significantly in 2009 with the new products that have been added to its portfolio throughout 2008.

“Web 2.0 is about hyper-connectivity, about the conversations that are happening on the web that are shifting the power away from companies and to the individual and the online communities to which they belong,” he said.

“The problem is the incredible amount of content that exists (company generated and user generate).

“The future of web 2.0 is about making it easier to find the right content that people are looking. The first step of course is ratings and reputation.”

Dutch believes that with the current economic circumstances, many businesses are turning to online marketing and Web 2.0 to get more value from their marketing and business development dollar.

“A highly effective website and online portal can streamline customer communication and help drive sales and growth,” he said.

“We see a greater emphasis on providing measurable business improvements for web projects. The business plans we see state shorter ROI time assumptions in there, often as short as 12 months.”
