UXC Connect plucks prized account from Kinetic IT

UXC Connect has signed a deal potentially worth $50 million from Melbourne Water.

The deal is valued at $20 million for three years. However, the final value could be more than double that if the three annual renewal options are actioned, said UXC Connect chief executive Ian Poole.

"This project is potentially in excess of $50 million if it runs over six years. They've given us a certain amount of project work too.

"These projects don’t come up very often. Typically if a person is already in there and if they do a good job, they will get the deal again."

Perth-based Kinetic IT was the incumbent.

"Kinetic IT was doing a great job," said Poole. "If the incumbent is doing a great job and we can displace them then we're doing even better."

Poole said it was UXC's breadth of services that helped the company secure the deal. "The main reason why we were successful was our ability to do all of the project work. They wanted one organisation to do everything, the service desk and the project work.

"We implemented Melbourne Water's data network and their voice, video and data services, in the last three to four years."

UXC Connect will roll out service desk, desktop support, network and server management, and security and facilities management for Melbourne Water.

The company will deploy 35 staff to manage the project, Poole said. "We like to put the old-fashioned service in what we do, to put old fashion service with new technology."

The transition program for Melbourne Water has commenced and UXC Connect expects to start delivering full services early in the New Year.
